Kindergarten Transition to School 2025

Take Off Into Kindy Transition Program

Starting school is an exciting and imperative milestone in every child’s life. The transition between learning environments can be both challenging and exciting for children and their families. We would like all our newest students and families to feel welcome at William Dean Public School where every child is known, valued, and cared for. We are committed to promoting equity and excellence, so each student is provided with the very best education and the opportunity to reach their full potential. The importance of a positive transition to school experience has been consistently emphasised in research around the world.

Here at William Dean Public School, we offer a Take off into Kindy Transition Program. This is an opportunity for your child to visit the classrooms, meet the teachers and become familiar with the school’s context. This is achieved over eight sessions. During these sessions, we also offer sessions to parents that will cover a range of topics to support parents in their child’s educational journey.

William Dean Public School is offering a Parent and Caregiver information session. This is to support all parents and caregivers as they transition with their child to the Primary School. This will be conducted via Zoom from 6:30 - 7:30 pm for your convenience.

'Take off into Kindy' is a program developed by our Kindergarten staff. This occurs the year before formal schooling begins. It involves introducing children to school culture and expectations and helps foster relationships with parents and caregivers. It incorporates play-based learning and the Second Step Program (which promotes the social-emotional development, safety and well-being of children), The program is also designed to introduce children to school rules and routines.

During Take off into Kindy, we are offering parent workshops. The aim of the workshops is to upskill parents & carers with curriculum and tips to support their child as they begin their education journey! During these sessions, we will also have experts providing insight into services and supports that can assist your child if you require them.
